The 2012 Democratic National Convention

The 2012 Democratic National Convention

Last Tuesday night, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II (D-Missouri) sent the 2012 Democratic National Convention through the roof. I'm not known for being interested in politics, but I quickly became immersed in the process during the 2008 Presidential race. I was always tuned into CNN, NBC, and any other source of political coverage and comment at the time, but lost my connection to the daily coverage of politics for nearly two years while being displaced.

Fortunately, I am back "at home", with 24-hour coverage of the political process. And, thanks to C-Span, I was able to witness the greatest moments of the 2012 Democratic National Convention. The television usually plays as "backgound" noise while I work at my computer; and I had C-Span tuned in to stay informed.

But, when I heard words that seeminly came from the depths of civilization, and from a voice I couldn't recognize, I almost got whiplash when I snapped around to see who was speaking. I didn't recognize the speaker, but it didn't matter because I was struck by the delivery of the speech. Researching the DNC hightlights, its speeches, and its speakers for the right person, I found Congressman Cleaver's video; though his is only one of many powerful speakers at the convention, including the speeches of First Lady Michelle Obama, President Bill Clinton, and Congressman Corey Booker.
